Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not tremble or be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. Joshua 1:9
Now, the Lord says this to Joshua, not once but three times in his charge to him. The book of Joshua is all about God's faithfulness to his promises. These verses are part of the charge God gave to Joshua, Moses successor, who would lead the Israelites to the Promised Land.
These words God gives in the context of His promises to Israel are nuggets of truth I need to be reminded of as I walk in faith. It is beautiful how the Lord gets our attention and writes His promises on our hearts. I was reminded several times in the past week or so of these truths.
First, I began a study titled Live Fearlessly and it is based on the book of Joshua. My last lesson dealt in these exact passages. Secondly, I was reminded not once but twice by a friend that my journey back in time needs strength and courage. Thirdly, in our adult discipleship class at church, today, we began our lesson looking at Joshua's call to leadership in chapter 1. So do you think, given my last couple weeks, which have marked in intense reentry into searching for the lessons the Lord has for me in my past that God is trying to equip me for what lies ahead? Or at least remind me of His faithfulness and promises. Like Israel in the quest to possess the land God promised them. God extends His promises to all his children; to me as I continue on my redemptive journey.
